YY Ventures hosts the 8th Social Business Youth Summit

The Social Business Youth Summit (SBYS) 2023 held on February 8-9, 2023

was a resounding success in fostering meaningful conversations centred around this year’s theme, “Creating a World of Three Zeros: The Time is Now.” Curated by YY Ventures, supported by Yunus Centre and Impact Hub Dhaka, and powered by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands, SBYS 2023 brought together industry leaders, experts, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from all over the world. The 2-day summit featured more than 40 speakers, and was attended by 250 delegates in person, while more than 500 people joined online.

The summit was opened with an inspiring keynote speech by 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, who shared about the importance and urgency of creating a world of three zeros. The following sessions featured panel discussions, impulses, conversations, and workshops around key topics such as Circularity, Sports, Healthcare, WASH, Financial Tools, Youth Employment, Future of Work, and many more. One of the highlights of the summit was that there were numerous opportunities for attendees to network, and connect with each other throughout the event.

The ‘Changemakers Meet’ segment of the SBYS 2023 also showcased several innovative social businesses, where young entrepreneurs pitched their business plans and ideas to the audience joining us in person and online. Attendees had the chance to hear from these entrepreneurs about their promising businesses that are making a positive impact, and connect with them during the networking segments. In a special segment, Orange Corners, an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, launched its Bangladesh hub at SBYS 2023.

Overall, SBYS 2023 was a great success in advancing sustainable, socially responsible business practices and empowering the next generation of business leaders. The summit also set an example of organizing events like this through our commitment to sustainability. Throughout the 2-day event, we were mindful of how our operations and practices affect our environment, therefore we focused on using only organic and recyclable products sourced from trusted producers and maintaining a ‘zero-waste’ policy. To encourage creating a greener future, YY Ventures in collaboration with Plant Easy arranged a pop-up section with little plants for the guests to takeaway on their way out.

We thank everyone who helped make this event possible. Stay tuned for updates on the next summit!
