YY Ventures partners with Kyushu University to launch and co-facilitate the SDGs Entrepreneurship Course 2022.

With a shared vision of inspiring youth to become catalysts of change in their communities,

YY Ventures partnered with the Shiiki Social Business Research Center of Kyushu University to design and co-facilitate the SDGs Entrepreneurship Course 2022 in order to accelerate social innovation and entrepreneurship among the next generation of talent.

As the first Yunus Centre established in Japan in 2011, Yunus & Shiiki Social Business Research Center (SBRC) carries out activities designed to promote Social Business in cooperation with various organizations and companies based in Japan and overseas. On the other hand, YY Ventures is an incubation and investment Social Business that supports early-stage entrepreneurs who are fighting carbon emission, poverty, and unemployment. Thus, through the SDGs Entrepreneurship Course, we aimed to equip the university students with critical knowledge and technical skills to find solutions to address the most pressing issues of our times as more and more businesses are now driven to move towards a sustainable and inclusive business model.

We designed and completed a 6-week long, hybrid SDG Entrepreneurship Course in December 2022. 35 students enrolled in this course that aimed to enable students to learn about the challenges the SDGs are addressing, gain technical knowledge on developing solutions to tackle those challenges, and build sustainable business models to scale up those solutions. ​ The course was open to a selection of Kyushu University students but also welcomed a few participants from Bangladesh and Nepal who were motivated to solve social, economic and environmental challenges, and wanted to explore the Social Business model to drive change.
