YY Ventures Organizes Brazil Social Business Forum on Youth Entrepreneurship

On August 26th, the Brazil Social Business Forum on Youth Entrepreneurship took place in Rio de Janeiro as a side event to the G20 Brasil, an international forum of major economies that addresses global economic and social issues.

Co-hosted by Yunus Negócios Sociais Brasil, YY Ventures, and the Yunus Centre, the event brought together representatives from Brazil's social business ecosystem, government, NGOs, and the private sector to raise awareness about the social business model and its transformative impact on society. The forum focused on tackling global challenges, including youth unemployment and climate action.

The forum highlighted social businesses as key solutions to Brazil’s challenges, particularly in combating youth unemployment and advancing climate protection. Shazeeb M. Khairul Islam, Founder and Managing Director of YY Ventures, delivered an insightful speech, emphasizing the importance of empowering Brazilian youth and reaffirming YY Ventures’ commitment to building a robust social business ecosystem for sustainable development.

“This forum is not just an opportunity for dialogue but also a platform for meaningful networking and collaboration. I encourage each of you to connect, share your experiences, and discuss the importance of entrepreneurship and ecosystem building. These conversations and collaborations are key to creating a sustainable future,” he said.

“At YY Ventures, we believe that a more equitable and just world is within our reach. Our mission is to support entrepreneurs who are not only building businesses but also solving social and environmental challenges sustainably,” he added.

Shazeeb called on everyone to contribute toward the vision of a world with three zeroes—however they can. “Through entrepreneurship, innovative thinking, and collaboration, we can create businesses that do more than generate profits—they can uplift society and protect our environment,” he said.

The forum is part of the broader ‘LATAM Social Business Ecosystem Builder Initiative’ by YY Ventures and the Yunus Centre, which aims to strengthen the social business ecosystem in Latin America while supporting and uplifting existing ecosystem builders in the region.
