YY Ventures Graduates 2nd Cohort of Entrepreneurs from Orange Corners Bangladesh

Orange Corners Bangladesh, an initiative by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, harnesses the potential of Bangladeshi youth by providing them with the skills, funding, and resources needed to transform their innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.

On August 27, 2024, YY Ventures hosted the Alumni Reception for the 2nd cohort of entrepreneurs who successfully completed the 6-month incubation program. This program included tailored training sessions, masterclasses led by industry experts, monthly coaching calls, site visits, and networking events.

The Path to Success

The journey for the 2nd Cohort began in January 2024, with 16 enterprises selected from 206 applicants from all across Bangladesh. These businesses, spread across 12 districts, operate in diverse sectors including Education, Agriculture, Media & Culture, Sports, ICT, Health & Safety, and more.

By June 2024, 12 of the 16 enterprises had completed the incubation phase, collectively securing over €57,000 (around 62 lakh taka) in Track I funding. If these enterprises show significant progress during the Post-Incubation phase, they can unlock up to €50,000 each in Track II funding from the Orange Corners Bangladesh program.

Turning Vision into Reality

The opportunity to secure up to €50,000 motivates teams to thrive in a rapidly changing and challenging business environment. Orange Corners Bangladesh offers a rigorous yet supportive ecosystem that fosters innovation, resilience, and excellence, helping entrepreneurs lay a solid foundation for their ventures.

Taufiq uz Zaman, CEO and Founder of PathWork, one of the 12 enterprises that secured Track I funding, shared, "We gained valuable insights and direction from industry experts, which helped shape our business strategy and plan for growth." PathWork provides bite-sized lessons to young professionals to enhance their skills. Taufiq plans to use the grant for content and platform development and to expand into new markets.

Sasthya Seba Limited, another grant recipient, is a health tech company tackling the challenge of accessing emergency healthcare in Bangladesh. Founder Waziha Islam plans to use the funds to expand their ambulance services and enhance digital marketing efforts. "Orange Corners is a fantastic program, offering tailored sessions and one-on-one coaching for young entrepreneurs," Waziha added.

For enterprises like PathWork and Sasthya Seba, Orange Corners Bangladesh is crucial in fostering business growth and sustainability. As YY Ventures continues to shape the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bangladesh, our Programmes Coordinator Farhia Tabassum Hoque remarked, "Orange Corners Bangladesh partners with early-stage, impact-driven enterprises, providing the skills, knowledge, and network needed to develop sustainable business models. At this stage, non-equity funding is vital for survival, and I'm glad our alumni can allocate these funds to meet urgent business needs."
