ToguMogu: A Digital Village for a New Generation of Parents

According to a report by UNICEF, in 2015, approximately 3.1 million babies were born in Bangladesh, around 8,600 every single day. With that, a natural question comes to mind: among the new parents, how many truly knew about parenting?

In a country where child-rearing knowledge has traditionally been passed down through generations, urban migration, nuclear families, and the decline of community support networks have left many modern parents navigating parenthood alone. Recognizing this growing gap, ToguMogu stepped in with a bold idea: build a digital village for the next generation of parents.

The idea for ToguMogu began taking shape between 2015 - 2016, inspired by the founders’ own struggles as new parents. They noticed a critical lack of accessible and trusted parenting information in Bangladesh. But turning that vision into reality wasn’t easy. Building a functional app required more than a good idea; it needed funding, developers, product testing, and long-term commitment.

Despite these challenges, the platform officially launched in 2017. What began as a content-driven platform centered on pregnancy and early childhood care has evolved into a robust ecosystem supporting over 200,000 parents across Bangladesh.

From Information to Action

As ToguMogu grew, its team realized that knowledge alone wasn’t enough. Parents needed actionable support to navigate the complexities of raising a child, especially in their earliest years.

The platform responded by launching a curated e-commerce shop, offering baby products, maternity essentials, and household items with a strong focus on quality and safety. Every product is chosen to help parents make confident, worry-free decisions. Parents can now find and book pediatricians, caregivers, daycare centers, tutors, and more. It’s a complete ecosystem where parents can access what they need, when they need it, that too all in one place.

The team is also expanding to work with B2B clients. In a creative leap, ToguMogu is launching a puppet show on Rtv, designed to deliver parenting and early childhood messages in a relatable, engaging format. “We generally think parenting starts when a baby is born,” said Tahmina Rahman, Vice President of Content, one of the driving forces behind ToguMogu. “But it actually starts a lot earlier.”

Creating a Community of Parenting

Beyond content and services, ToguMogu offers something even more powerful and that is ‘connection’.

Through its in-app parenting groups, families across the country come together to share stories, ask questions, and offer support. These community spaces have become safe, judgment-free zones where parents find empathy and encouragement.

To deepen the quality of these interactions, ToguMogu embeds expert guidance directly into community conversations, especially on topics like early childhood development, nutrition, and health. This unique blend of personal experience and professional insight ensures parents get the right help, right when they need it.

In 2024, the platform ToguMogu secured €5,000 in Track I funding from the Orange Corners Bangladesh incubation programme (Orange Corners Bangladesh is an initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, implemented by YY Ventures in partnership with BYLC and SF, and supported by UBL).

Upon graduation. Later in the same year, it unlocked €28,800 in Track II, also known as the Orange Corners Innovation Fund, after successfully completing the post-incubation phase. The programme provided strategic mentorship, business development support, and access to a community of changemakers that helped ToguMogu refine its model and scale its impact.

By turning technology into a source of trust, support, and community, ToguMogu is redefining what parenting looks like in the digital age, and helping raise a healthier, better-prepared generation of children in Bangladesh.
