Social Fiction Design Competition 2022

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus once said,

“If you imagine, some day it will happen. If you don't imagine, it will never happen.” In 2021, YY Ventures partnered with the Yunus Centre to present an extraordinary opportunity to young visionaries from across the globe. This remarkable endeavor took the form of the global Social Fiction Design Competition—an invitation to dreamers and creative writers worldwide to share their visions for the world and the lives of young people in the year 2050.

The response was overwhelming, with more than 656 submissions pouring in from over 70 countries. Following an initial round of meticulous screening, the top 10 participants were shortlisted: Dooshima Tsee from Zambia, Wan Faizal Bin Mohd Anwar from Malaysia, Rubén Chamizo Pajuelo from Spain, Nguyễn Đặng Uyên Nhi from Vietnam, Leonor Costa from Portugal, Anne Julliene Barcelona from the United States, Neha Sabu from India, Amit Kumar Mishra from Nepal, Tyfur Rahman from Bangladesh, Keshav Mishra from India.

The finalists were invited to an exclusive workshop on 'Crafting Your Story' facilitated by Akkie Okma, Technical Advisor at YY Ventures. Here, they had the unique privilege to bring their narratives to life through storytelling. Following a final pitch event chaired by Lamiya Morshed, Executive Director, Yunus Centre & Chairman, YY Ventures; Jacqueline Strayer, Faculty Lead, Social Impact Fellows Program, New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business; Sadia Hossain, Chief Operating Officer, YY Ventures; Amit Kumar from Nepal was selected as the winner of the Social Fiction Design Competition during a special segment at the 13th Social Business Day held in July 2023. His exceptional vision captivated our hearts and minds, making him a standout champion of this creative and visionary journey. Read more about the competition here .
